CONSTRUCTING YOUR TOTE BAG
FINISHING BY ADDING STRAPS
A B
Fold the straps back over themselves to cover up their raw
edges. Stitch in place.
Fold the outer edge to meet up with the mark you made
along the center. Top stitch about 1⁄8” from the folded edge.
Repeat this on the other side.
Sew the straps to the bag.
Pin your finished strap’s raw edge to the outside of the bag.
Gather your strap fabric. You can make your straps as long
or short as you please. For our style of strap, we are working
with strips that are 1 1⁄2” wide.
Mark the center of your strips along the length, being sure to
mark the wrong side of the strap fabric.
