FABRIC
To compliment the rustic and warm
feel of this acorn collection, we chose
a tan linen from Essex Yarn Dyed
Speckle by Studio RK for Robert
Kaufman Fabrics for the main acorn
appliqué and a burlap-printed cotton
for the cap of the acorn. While using
real burlap is an intriguing idea, we
suggest that you avoid using fraying
fabrics, as the acorns will need to be
turned and stuffed. If you choose a
fraying fabric, you can treat it ahead
of time with a fabric treatment spray,
such as Terial Magic or Fray Stop.
THREADS
We wanted these acorns to show off
our fall fever, so we chose a blend of
warm, autumnal colors to coordinate
with all the fall-themed details.
NOTIONS
A pair of double-curved appliqué
scissors will help with trimming, as
well as a small handful of Poly-Fil
or other stuffing substitute. You will
also need a hand sewing needle
and some all-purpose thread.
