LIFE IS BETTER IN A TUTU SPRINKLE KINDNESS LIKE CONFETTI
The tutu has been a staple accessory within the art of ballet
as it gives dancers an added touch to their costume while
allowing them to move freely throughout their routine. Since
this article of clothing is very special within the performing
arts, we thought it would be the perfect addition to our ballet
bag! For this project, we used tulle, which is a lightweight and
fine material that is made up of various fibers including rayon,
silk, nylon, and polyester. You can match your material to your
fabric or add a pop of color by choosing a color featured
within your watercolor confetti!
There are many different fabrics to choose from when creating your new tote bag. For this
project we chose to work with silk dupioni, which is a lustrous silk that is woven with two
different colors of thread. Our beautiful new dance bag features light purple mixed with
shades of light pink. We chose this fabric for this design as it brings more texture, provides
structure and is considered a lightweight material. A solid cotton lining was added to the
inside of the bag for a nice finish!

DANCE LIKE NO
ONE IS WATCHING
Watercolor confetti is a fun technique that incorporates a
placement stitch and tacking stitch that is used for traditional
appliqué. This technique is unique because it uses a
combination of different styles of confetti and appliqué
layering to mimic hand-painted brush strokes. In order to
provide a watercolor affect, we decided to layer multiple
shades of tulle! Grab a variation of colors and trim your tulle
into smaller pieces. Since tulle is a lightweight, sheer fabric,
it is the perfect material for layering and displaying the
eye-catching watercolor effect.
