Once you have stitched your blocks together, use a steam
iron to butterfly press open the seams on the back side. Your
design should look something like this.

You will also need a piece of insulated batting measuring
81⁄2” x 81⁄2”. Sandwich your layers together in the order of:
back fabric (wrong side facing up), insulated batting (shiny or
heat-safe side down), and your quilted blocks.
Now it is time to create your back fabric. Cut a piece of
cotton to 81⁄2” x 81⁄2”. From this step onwards, we will work
with the wrong side of the lining facing up towards us.
Pin or clip your layers in place. Once satisfied with the
arrangement, transfer the pinned or clipped layers to your
sewing machine.
