To make a hand warmer, gather your 4” x 4” block of choice
along with your choice of back fabric.
NOTE: We used a knit sweater-like material for our back
fabric, measuring at 5” x 5”.
Place your block and the back fabric right sides facing each
other, then pin along each side (inset).

Transfer the pinned project to your sewing machine with the
design’s back side facing you. Use the outer tacking stitch
line as a guide to “stitch in the ditch” along 3 sides of your
block, leaving at least a 2” gap at the top for finishing.
Now, trim your corners at a 45° angle as shown above, and
turn your design right side out. You can use a turning tool or
your hands to make the corners pointy. You should then have
something that looks like this (inset)!
