ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN
WE MAKE IT EASY FOR YOU!
We created this tutorial to make your project as simple
as possible. Our combination of picture steps and the
listed machine steps will help you navigate your designs
effortlessly. As you can see below, each state features 2
types of appliqué: Landscape Appliqué in the background
and Standard Appliqué for the various elements in the
scene. The Landscape Appliqué for the background will
always be the first set of appliqué in each design. The
standard appliqués that follow will be the elements making
up each state’s individual landmark or scenery. We suggest
gathering all of your appliqué fabrics and laying them out
to ensure you like the combination of colors before picking
your threads or getting started. For color inspiration, you
can reference the design scans in this tutorial, or search
the landmark online for a realistic reference! As always,
we recommend looking over each design and its steps
thoroughly before beginning.
Our Landscape Appliqué
is multiple horizontal
appliqués that combine
to create a visual scene,
or landscape, within
the design.
The Standard Appliqué technique
is used once the satin stitch
outline has finished concealing
the landscape’s raw edges. For
example, Lady Liberty and the city
skyline utilize this technique.
