Merging multiple designs into one can be fun and while our
state silhouettes and their designated bird and flowers make
for the perfect combination, we can’t forget about our Fifty
Nifty United States 1 & 2 series!
There are multiple ways to add your designs to your
products; however, often times our materials are too bulky
or complicated to sew through. If you are in this situation,
you may want to make a patch and attach it! Avoid the
sewing struggles and multiple layers of fabric by ironing on
your desired designs as patches. For this project, we were
inspired by the tonal colors of our motorcycle jacket! Stitch
the design that you would like to feature onto a piece of felt
with a Tear-Away stabilizer. Once your state is complete,
remove it from the hoop and tear away your stabilizer. Trim
your design down to 1⁄4”. Once trimmed it is time to add
interfacing.
Heat n Bond is a double-sided, lightweight interfacing that
fuses when heat is added. This form of interfacing is perfect
for patching and attaching! Add this notion to the back of
your patch, attach it to your jacket, and ride off in style—just
like our coworker, Dustin!
