I would highly recommend visiting
some of the lesser-known sights
as well because they’re full of rich
history. Athens cannot be seen in a
day unless you just want to visit the
Acropolis, so I’d suggest booking a
minimum 3-day vacation to Athens.
country’s capital, so there will
Athens. The airport is located about
30 minutes from the city, yet taxi
services can take you from the
airport to your hotel. As for places
to stay, look no further than the
Periscope Hotel, located in the heart
of Athens. A Marriott partner, the
Periscope Hotel is nothing short
of phenomenal. I would stay at the
Periscope Hotel from the staff to the
location every time I visit Athens.
The hotel is located about 1.5 miles
from the Parthenon and is extremely
easy to get to. The staff at the hotel is
exceptionally kind and willing to bend
over backward to ensure your stay in
Athens meets your expectations.
As for the Acropolis, you have many
different options. The Acropolis is
open daily from 8 AM-8 PM, and
tickets are €20 per person. There
are ticket bundles available at the
entrance of the Acropolis that are
€30 that include multiple ancient
sights, so if you’re in town for a few
days, I’d recommend this bundle.
The Acropolis Museum is adjacent
to the Acropolis entrance, yet you
cannot buy a ticket bundle for the
Acropolis Museum. Those tickets
are €10, and the museum is open
from 8 AM-8 PM.
If you’re visiting during the summer
months, Athens can be hot. Pair
the near 100-degree weather with
sun, the temperature skyrockets.
Because of the high temperature,
I’d highly recommend visiting the
Acropolis either in the morning
or late evening. Then, while the
summer heat is blistering down, visit
the Acropolis Museum. Another
reason to visit either in the morning
or evening is to avoid the crowds.
Many cruise ships stop in Athens, so
you have to visit before passengers
disembark if you want those
pictures with minimal tourists.
