Holiday Events I N T H E T R I A D

The best thing about Christmas in the Triad
is all the wonderful events to attend. The
worst thing is all the wonderful events to
attend! How do you decide what to do? Below
are highlights of a few of the events and
activities that are sure to get you in the
holiday spirit.
Tanglewood’s Festival of Lights
Kick off the holiday season with a trip to view the
amazing light displays at Tanglewood’s Festival of
Lights, 6-11 p.m. now through January 1. Over 100
separate displays spread over a four-mile route, a
light and motion filled adventure. Stop at the Barn
and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while you toast
some marshmallows over an open fire. Tickets are
$15 per family cars, vans or trucks.
A Christmas Carol
An annual Christmas tradition is “A Christmas Carol,”
Triad Stage’s holiday classic by Charles Dickens. The
performances will be held at Hanesbrands Theatre, 209
N. Spruce St., through Dec. 24. Travel through the past,
present and future with Ebenezer Scrooge. For dates

Candle Tea at Home Moravian Church
Experience the beauty and smells of the holidays at
the annual Candle Tea hosted by Home Moravian
Church in the Single Brothers House, 600 S. Main St.
in Old Salem. The Candle Tea is held Dec. 1, 7, 8 & 9
from 1-8:30 p.m., and Dec. 2 & 9, 11:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
Sing carols, observe volunteers making beeswax candles
for the Lovefeast, enjoy a cup of Moravian coffee
and sugarcake, and end with hearing the Christmas
story read while viewing a miniature scene of
Bethlehem. Tickets are just $5 for adults and $1 for
children 12 and under.
Old Salem Candlelight Tour
Experience a very special Christmas night in Old
Salem with their Candlelight Tours: Putzing Through
Salem, on Dec. 1, 2, 8, 15, 16, 21, 23, tour times
6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8 p.m. Tours sell

Black Nativity
An annually anticipated event is the NC Black
Repertory’s annual production of “Black Nativity,” written
by Langston Hughes. The production is an
Afrocentric story of Jesus’ birth, bursting with music
and dance. Shows are on Dec. 1-10. Group rates are

Pictures with Santa & Mrs. Claus
Pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available on
Dec. 2 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Cricket’s Nest,
4401 Country Club Rd. Bring your camera and capture
a warm holiday memory with children and
grandchildren. The store will also be open until
4 p.m. for shopping for unique gifts handmade by
