STATE PARKS
Monmouth County is home to three state parks.
Allaire State Park and

The 3,199-acre park is best known for Allaire Village, its 19th-century
iron-making town, and for its historic railroad. Allaire Village offers
living history and arts events, festivals and other events throughout
the year. The State Park offers museum/nature center, trails for hikers,
bikers and horseback riders, campgrounds and fishing and canoeing

Cheesequake State Park J2

The 1,569-acre park is unique as a transitional zone between
ecosystems, including saltwater and freshwater marshes, a white
cedar swamp and pine barrens. The park offers an education center,
trails, camping, fishing, picnic area, boating, swimming and winter
sports.
Monmouth Battlefield State Park H8

One of the most significant battles of the American Revolution
took place in the woods and fields of this 1,818-acre park. The
site depicts 18th-century rural life and includes the Craig House, a
restored Revolutionary War farmhouse, visitor’s center, picnic area,
playground, bridle path, plus hiking and crosscountry ski trails.

Since 1970, nonprofit Poricy Park Conservancy has been preserving
250 acres of open space, wildlife habitats, prehistoric fossil beds,
and the historic Murray Farmhouse. The park is a center for
environmental and cultural education. It’s also home to Rebecca’s
Reel Quilters Guild.

Free entrance to state park, forest, recreation area and
historic site facilities that charge daily fees, as well as
a discount on campsite fees, is offered to New Jersey
residents with a New Jersey State Parks Disability
