Alumni in Action 1960s Col. Barry C. Milo, USMC ’64 recently retired after a 30-year career in the United States Marine Corps. Gil Casellas ’70 was recently featured in Hispanic Executive magazine for championing diversity on the Board of Prudential. Bob Morrison ’71 is executive director of the Hillsborough County Hotel Motel Association, and he was recently named Visit Tampa Bay’s Gonzmart Family Ambassador of the Year. John J. Agliano ’79, a shareholder of Bajo Cuva Cohen Turkel, P.A., was recently elected President of the University Club of Tampa for 2016-17. Michael Valdes ’81, Managing Director – Wealth Management at Merrill Lynch Private Banking & Investment Group, was recently named to the Forbes Top 100 Wealth Advisors. Andrew Diaz ’82, partner at Gaylord Merlin Ludovici & Diaz, has been selected to the 2016 Florida Super Lawyers list. Florida Super Lawyers recognizes attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their legal practice. Diaz specializes in eminent domain in the Tampa Bay area. Michael Mindardi ’63 recently retired after a 40-year career as an international photographer and photojournalist. Minardi was an NFL fi eld photographer for 25 years, and has taken photos for some of the largest corporations, ad agencies, and magazines such as Time, Life, U.S. World Report, and Modern Maturity. Jack Rodriguez ’64 and more than 20 of his classmates recently held a semiannual reunion gathering on April 28 at the Floridan Hotel in downtown Tampa. They had a “great time as usual,’’ Rodriguez said. Class members recalled having Jesuit formal events at the Floridan in the early ’60s. 1970s Dennis LeVine ’75 has been selected to the 2016 Florida Super Lawyers list. He focuses his statewide practice on bankruptcy litigation and creditors’ rights. He was selected for the ‘Bankruptcy: Consumer’ category and has been listed as a Florida Super Lawyer since 2009. Ron Ficarrotta ’76, chief judge of the 13th Judicial District of Hillsborough County, recently published a column in the Tampa Bay Times titled “Compassion and justice in drug cases.” He wrote about the positive impact Hillsborough County’s drug court programs have on the lives of off enders. Michael Lebron ’76, radio and television personality known as Lionel, performs at The Cutting Room NYC on October 23. Lionel will announce his independent write-in candidacy to be the 45th President of the United States, and entertain with political satire, standup comedy, and his bluegrass band, Lock ‘n Load. Dr. Steve Negley ’78 recently took a mission trip to Honduras as part of his church, First Presbyterian in Winter Haven, where Dr. Negley is a pastor. Among those joining Dr. Negley on the mission trip were Steven Dawes ’17. Bill Schifi no ’78 was sworn in as the 68th president of The Florida Bar at the General Assembly on June 17 in Orlando. With more than 103,000 members, The Florida Bar is one of the largest unifi ed bars in the nation. 1980s Art Noriega ’85, CEO of the Miami Parking Authority since 1999 and recently appointed Chairman of the Miami Beach Bowl, is applying his management experience to public education through the Executive PASS program, an initiative of the State of Florida’s Council for Educational Change. The program teams a business leader with a principal to improve school and student performance, emphasizing leadership development. Noriega has partnered with the principals at Miami Northwestern Senior High in Liberty City. He said many of the students come from challenging family situations and are making great progress. Joie Chitwood ’87 was named Chief Operating Offi cer of International Speedway Corporation, which owns and manages 13 race tracks, including Daytona International Speedway. Jon Albert ’80 and his foundation, the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation (JAJF), were recognized at the 75th Anniversary of the USO for their impact on military families across the United States. The JAJF’s mission is treating families to “WOW! Experiences®, giving children who will lose their Mom or Dad to cancer a timeout to create indispensable memories as a family…while they can.”
