Photography by Gram and Noraa TBBCA Impact Awards The 27th annual Impact Awards, presented by the Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture and the Arts (TBBCA), recognized Mark Mahaffey with the Patron of Culture and the Arts Impact Award; Kent Lydecker with the Individual Impact Award; and Bob Glaser of Smith and Associates with the Business Impact Award. Janet Echelman was presented with the International Artistic Achievement Impact Award in recognition of her innovative work that defies categorization, as she creates fluidly moving experiential sculptures on a giant scale that respond to environmental forces. The Mission of TBBCA is to unite businesses to champion arts and culture for a prosperous community. Dada Glaser was thrilled that her former husband and best friend Bob Glaser, the president and CEO of Smith and Associates Real Estate, was awarded the Business Impact Award. Smith and Associates has continuously demonstrated exemplary support of the arts and culture of our community. Lorna Taylor, the president and chair of the TBBCA board, who co-chaired its event with Stephen Gay, thanked Dr. Kanika Tomalin, the deputy mayor of St. Petersburg, for assisting St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman in presenting a key to the city to awardwinning artist Janet Echelman. NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2016 | TAMPA BAY MAGAZINE 163 Janet Echelman, who grew up in the Tampa Bay area, was selected to be honored with the International Artistic Achievement Impact Award for her sensational works that have become focal points in more than 36 cities on four continents. Janet’s mother, artist and jewelry maker Ann Kantor, expressed her great pride. Cookbook author Toni Lydecker congratulated her husband Kent for being selected to receive the Individual Impact Award. Kent was the director of the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, from 2010 until this year. Christina Moody and Mickey Gorsage, senior vice president and chief strategy and business development officer of Tampa General Hospital, which was named the #1 Hospital in Tampa Bay by U.S. News & World Report, attended this prestigious event that recognized arts supporters. Mark Mahaffey and his wife Marianne are generous philanthropic supporters of the arts. Mark was the recipient of the Patron of Culture and the Arts Impact Award. He is the board chair of the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, and The Mahaffey Theater is named in honor of his family.
