Ronnie Ramirez ’15 and Clayton Kwiatkowski ’17 are members of the Florida State baseball pitching staff . They both participated in the Garnet & Gold intrasquad two-game series this fall. Dante Newberg ’15 recently scored the third-best point total in Florida State track & fi eld history for the heptathlon with a personal-best of 4,963. Newberg competes in both the heptathlon (7 events) and decathlon (10 events) for the Seminoles, and was 10th in the Atlantic Coast Conference in the decathlon last spring as a freshman. Tony Castro ’13 was an intern for U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama during the summer of 2016. As an intern through the Congressional Intern Lecture series, Castro, who is a student at Auburn University, assisted legislative staff with research and regular duties, helped with constituent services, and aided with administrative duties. Interns attended weekly seminars on the legislative process and special lectures from Members of Congress. They also attended committee hearings and viewed Senate fl oor proceedings from the Senate gallery. Jeff Mirafl or ’13 recently entered the Society of Jesus. Mirafl or attended the University of Central Florida, majoring in electrical engineering with a minor in music, and was an active member of the Filipino Student Association and sang in the UCF choirs. 24 JESUIT PERSPECTIVES • WINTER 2016-17 Joseph Trim ’14 recently was named Golfer of the Week by the Atlantic 10 Conference. Trim, who is a junior at Fordham University, earned the honor after captured medalist honors at the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club, shooting 71- 72-143, good for a two-shot victory. It was Trim’s fi rst career individual collegiate win, and he also carded his second career hole-in-one, acing the par-3 11th hole in his opening round.
