While Gabby’s Interior Décor
and Design is a great place to find
the perfect home accent, weddings,
receptions, and bridal showers
provide the bulk of her business. A
wedding on October 14, 2017, will
make the seventh this year, and the
98th wedding she’s decorated since
her business began 15 years ago.
But this time, Polly will also be the
mother of the bride.
When Gabby, Polly and Mark’s
daughter and the store’s namesake,
announced her engagement to
Gideon Isaiah Daniels, Polly had
about three months to get everything
ready, which began with a “Kate
Spade” themed bridal shower. “I
wanted to do something out of the
box,” said Gabby. And if anyone
could pull it off, she knew it would be
her mama.
“I couldn’t do all these weddings
without my husband Mark, Rose
Sandra Williams, Patrice Bowens,
and Paige Corouthers. They are an
amazing team.”
On the second Saturday of
every November, which falls on
November 11th this year, Polly holds
a Christmas Open House event at
the store. Last year, she decorated
22 homes and several businesses
for Christmas. She also decorated
Vidalia City Hall. Locals and visitors
alike enjoyed the onion ornaments
Polly handmade to represent our city.
This year, clients began putting their
homes on her list as early as July.
Polly received one of the greatest
compliments she could ever have
been given, in my humble opinion,
from her daughter. “As the trends
change,” said Gabby, “she is able to
adapt. She is always growing in her
gift. And the courage it took for her
to start a business gave two of her
sisters the courage to start businesses
of their own. She has inspired me
to believe that I can do anything if I
am willing to use the gift I inherited
from my mother and grandmother.
It’s a gift I can already see in my three
children, Chloe P. Wilcox, Callie V.
Wilcox, and Calvin Wilcox III.”
Gabby’s is open Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 to 5:30
and Saturday, 10:00-2:00
