Fleury “LRoveea”l
As a member of the successful vocal
group, Real Love, Rene Fleury has
“real love” for his music and friends.
Friends who can weather illness, natural
disasters, relocations, retirement and
other life-changing situations, are the
kind of friends the soul singer keeps
close to him with his music.
Fleury knows what it means to rely
on others for support, friendship and
backup – literally. With more gigs, more
work and more rehearsals to commit to,
it’s amazing he still finds the time to hang
with his closest friends.
“I’ve always cherished my friends and
family,” the native New Orleanian said.
Married to his best friend Pat, Fleury
says he and his wife keep their love alive
by insisting on treating their relationship
like it was new, going on regular dates
and making time for each other. He
also loves to spend time with his six
grandchildren, all of whom live in the
New Orleans area. He likes talking to
them about commitment, integrity, and
dedication to whatever they are doing.
“I want everyone to be a good person
or the best person they can be,” he said.
From his early days in school, Fleury
and his closest friends would gather to
play ball or music, sometimes multiple
times a week. Even today, he and his
friends still get together, though not
always on stage or on the court.
Hailing from the Lower 9, Fleury
attended Andrew J. Bell Junior High
School where he started playing the
saxophone and singing. With a voice
range from baritone to tenor, he carried
over that love of singing with him to
Warren Easton High School and was
regularly entertaining in various citywide
talent shows with his friends.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve

been entertaining others,” he proudly
noted.
The father of three children, Fleury
raised his family in New Orleans while
carving out a successful career with the
New Orleans Sewage & Water Board.
Under the guidance of Percy Mack, a
man Fleury is quick to honor, he learned
a great deal about being professional and
learning to work with others. These were
lessons Fleury took with him when he
put together Real Love.
“Whether we’re rehearsing, choosing
our songs, doing choreography or
working on wardrobe, I try to remember
the lessons I learned in my professional
life and use them with the group” Fleury
explained.
Fleury has always been athletic and
was given the nickname “Horse” for
continually running on the court and
for his speed. His dexterity was a great
