A BEACHCOMBER MURDER MYSTERY By Alaina Loughridge CLUE: THE GAME �������������������������� Folks, right out of the gate I want y’all to know this is going to be a fun GAME. No one has died and no one is in jail!! It’s all going to be a good time! Read on and enjoy!! BREAKING NEWS!!! MURDER on Tybee!!! The owner of Huc-A-Poo’s Bites and Booze, Eric Thomas, was found MURDERED today!!! It has absolutely shocked the entire island!! Beloved by all (but apparently not), Eric was a restaurateur who dedicated his life to family and friends. But, Wait!! All is not as it seems... After a serious sit down with our own Chief of Police Bob Bryson, it appears that Mr. Eric Thomas had a seedy side. “Do tell,” I said, as I clicked on my tape recorder. “Mr. Thomas was found in an undisclosed location clutching a pizza cutter. We have not ascertained how he died as of yet, but we have several clues and several suspects.” “Go on,” I said, inching closer in my seat and surreptitiously turning up the volume on my recorder... “Naturally, Chief, all of this is off the record. Anything you tell me will be strictly between us.” I gave the Chief my sincerest look. “Well, it looks like Mr. Thomas was stealing business from many of our island restaurants and the owners are not happy about that. We have a list of suspects that have been behaving suspiciously.” Chief Bryson leaned in to tell me in hushed tones, “Mr. Thomas was not as well liked as everyone believes. He had been seen swinging from chandeliers, running naked down Alley 3, as well as stealing bras from The Quarter Bar!” “Oh my,” I said as I clutched my chest!! The horror of it all! “Chief Bryson, who are these suspects and what should people be on the lookout for? Are there other people in danger?” Chief Bryson leaned back in his chair and sighed. “No. No danger to anyone else. I will tell you the suspect list, but you cannot tell anyone else!” “Scout’s honor,” I said, as I crossed my fingers behind my back (I have never been a Scout so I felt fairly safe in that huge lie). So my fellow readers, here is the suspect list: JENNY ORR - Owner of Fannie’s and Marlin Monroe’s It was no secret that Jenny was jealous of Eric’s long, luxurious locks. She was seen filing her goat’s horns and giving him a shave that he did not need. She was also seen speeding down the street behind Poo’s at a very early hour in her jacked up golf cart.
