It is a system echoing the impressive natural and cultural diversity of the state while also highlighting the generosity and dedication of the state’s citizens, a legacy of people who cared. The mission of the state park system is to preserve and interpret the state’s most outstanding natural landscapes and cultural landmarks, and to provide outstanding recreational opportunities compatible with those resources. You are invited to help celebrate the 100th birthday of your state park system. Throughout 2017 special events, programming and other activities will be taking place in the park system so please come join in the fun. One adventurous way to celebrate is to participate in the Centennial Passport Program. Simply buy a passport book online at https://mostateparks.com/shop/passport.html or at a state park or historic site gift shop near you. Pomme de Terre State Park ���������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� emphasis from park guests is mainly focused on the recreational opportunities, the park also contains rich and varied natural resources and the intriguing cultural history of the surrounding area. The state park consists of two separate, almost independent management areas. The Pittsburg Area located at the junction of the two arms of the lake, and the Hermitage Area across the Lindley Arm to the east. Each area provides an opportunity for camping, lodging, hiking, picnicking, swimming, ���������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� environment for your camping experience. The Hermitage Area campground has more of an open feel, scattered trees and a fully mowed landscape with many campsites that feature fantastic lake views. The Pittsburg Area has more of a rustic feel, like camping in a woodland setting. It too has some great lake views at numerous campsites. Lodging options are also available. The Hermitage Area offers a Lake House, which sleeps six - all you need are groceries. An uncommon lodging experience is available at the Pittsburg Area in the form of two yurts. A yurt is a circular structure with a fabric cover, much like a tent, and a wooden frame making it strong and weathertight. There is no water available in the yurt, and you will need to bring your own bedding.
