57 T The trimmed design will look like this. V Once the base fabrics are trimmed, you’re now ready to begin the ragged edge process. Starting from the exterior edge of the design, cut slits into your fabric that extend to your tack down stitches. Place the slits about ¹/₂” apart. The Ragged Edge Appliqué quilt block will look like this once complete. Since we’re finished with all of our machine steps, you can go ahead and remove your design from the hoop and trim a 1” seam allowance along the outer edge of the entire design Next, trim your top base fabric to a ¹/₂” seam allowance to the best of your ability. TIP Using the same technique, we’ll begin the ragged edge process for our appliqué.
