It’s amazing to see how much Josh has grown and touched others’ lives during his time at UNC Charlotte.” • Dance Coordinator for the Afrikawi Dance Team HOW IS YOUR STUDENT INVOLVED WITH ORGANIZATIONS/VOLUNTEERING OFF CAMPUS? Josh is not currently involved with anything off campus. WHAT STANDS OUT TO YOU ABOUT UNC CHARLOTTE? “I enjoy how the University empowers students to become independent. I saw that during the parent orientation program when they talked about not only academics, but being able to teach the whole child. As an educator, I advocate for teaching holistically. I’m impressed by how UNC Charlotte equips the whole child to succeed. During the parent orientation, the staff painted a strong picture of their mission. I was so impressed. My husband and I connected with the University during the parent orientation programs. The presentations were stellar. Josh encouraged his sister, Rebecca, to apply to UNC Charlotte given how much the professors and faculty connect with and care about their students. The staff has such integrity and character. Rebecca has been happy since transferring; she calls me every day to discuss her coursework and what she’s learning. I’m thrilled about both of our children succeeding and enjoying their collegiate experience. We always encourage other family members to check out UNC Charlotte because we’re so pleased with the education our children are getting.” BY COLLEEN TULLY, NEW STUDENT AND FAMILY SERVICES UNC CHARLOTTE | SOPHOMORE YEAR
