Established in December 9, 1895, the Post Office in Pinehurst became a vital asset to the growing resort and since has moved locations several times. In 1934, the Post Office moved to 95 Cherokee Road to a building built under the direction of Supervising Architect Louis Simon and Supervising Engineer George Von Nerta. From the heart of the Village, the Post Office, for 75 years, served locals who looked forward to their daily trips to town to check the mail, meet with neighbors, and catch up on the latest news. When the Post Office left its home in 2011, this created quite a stir. Currently, the old Post Office hosts three businesses: The Given Book Shop, Given Outpost Events, & the Roast Office Coffee Shop. No. 126 The Pinehurst Gazette, Inc. p.39
