ACCESS / Quilting Do’s & Dont’s of a Tile Scene Tile scenes typically require the most work to stitch together because you may have multiple points on your quilt block that need to align to the next one. In the picture section of this Special Feature we will show you in detail how we get all of them to line up, even if the quilt blocks drew in and are all slightly different sizes. The first thing you always want to do is line up a point that is supposed to meet, pin in place and sew a little bit. You then may need to steam your quilt block to loosen up the fabric and stitches, stretch, re-pin at the next point and continue sewing. You will repeat this process until all the points are lined up all the way to the edge of the seams. DO Always start sewing at the points where the design is supposed to align first, then work your way slowly to the other points. If your block has a heavier stitch count, you may need to steam, stretch, re-pin and then continue sewing to the next point. DON’T The most common mistake we see is when people start sewing from one edge of the seam to the next and hope that the points align properly. However quilt blocks can sew out and finish at different sizes making it highly unlikely that they will just line up on their own, as you can see below
