41 Step-By-Step Instructions Once you are satisfied with one section of the block, repeat the alignment steps and start working on the next element of the block. Again, just stitch a small section of the blocks together at a time. A basting stitch is easier to remove than a regular stitch. We will sew the entire seam together again at the end with a regular stitch length, so use a basting stitch when aligning the elements up. Here you can see the tree trunk and top of the tree are aligned perfectly. The rest of the seam is background and will be blended together. G H I
