63 Projects and Tutorials Creating beautiful embroidery designs is only half the challenge. At Anita Goodesign, our goal is to show you what you can do with them as well. Most of our collections come with a project idea as well as step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish the different projects. We start by creating a mock up of each project, for example a bag or a quilt, and then settle on the finished project for replication. Once the project has been decided, we start sewing it out to completion. During this process we photograph each step and take notes. For example, if the collection uses a folded fabric quilting technique, we will take a dozen photographs illustrating that technique and how to create it. We also photograph the tutorial coinciding with the project and include different layout options, fabric choices, and other necessary information. Some of our tutorials, like the ones in our Special and Premium Editions, are over 100 pages long. We spend just as much time writing our tutorials as we do digitizing and stitching the designs. Once the tutorial is written, we move on to the Graphic Design department. Finishing Every single design is scanned into our computers and prepared for use with merchandising and catalogs. It is very tricky to get a 12” design to look great at 1”. However, our graphics department has the expertise to make that happen. The design scans are used to create the packaging, catalog sheets, Online images, and any other materials needed. While the packaging layout is being created, a photography session is also taking place. Each sample, as you can see from this book, is expertly photographed. Each of the multiple samples are photographed and saved for marketing materials and merchandising. This process is very important mainly because most people are not able to touch and see each of our beautiful crafted quilts first hand, so the pictures need to convey the details of our work.
