FREE STANDING EMBROIDERY NOTES To create a 3D flower like this one, we’ll be using a variation on free standing embroidery. Here, (usually using wash-away stabilizer) you create all your layers using the same listed on the previous page, but you will not add fabric to the back. Once your layers are created, a separate hooping is required to attach all of your pieces together. Special placement and tacking stitches will help the embroiderer to align and layer all the pieces.
