SCISSORS There are many different scissor options and styles on the market. It is best to test out many different types to see which one works well for your projects. Here are 4 of the main scissors we use at Anita Goodesign: Curved “Duck Billed” - these are made with a flat edge which allows you to precisely line up your scissors with the edge you are cutting. These are ideal for straight edge appliqués or cutting the batting away from a quilt block. Curved Appliqué - these types of scissors has a curved tip. By having this curve, you are able to trim appliqués with more intricate cuts. It is also ideal for accessing smaller area. Shears - these are heavy duty scissors best used when cutting multiple layers of fabrics. These scissors also work well when cutting batting or thicker fabrics like linens and wools. Trimming “Snips” - these scissors are perfect for the finishing touches. The small tip and size allows you to reach tighter areas. They are also great for cleaning up threads when your project is complete.
