SEWING BLOCKS TOGETHER “How do I actually stitch the quilt together” is a common question we always get. All of our quilting collections come with full instructions on how to finish your quilt once the blocks are constructed. You can reference the “Finishing Your Quilt” section of our Fundamental Curriculum and Catalog or the “About Us” section on all collection CD’s. Here are a few reminders: Once you have stitched all of the blocks always lay them out on a table to complete your arrangement. This will help you navigate what blocks to sew together and make the process faster. When your blocks are all sewn together, we recommend placing a piece of backing fabric down, layering it with your batting and quilt top. Remember to cut the batting and backing at least 2” bigger than your quilt top all the way around. We use a matching thread or a monofilament thread (pictured above) when stitching in the ditch; this is our preferred method. Be sure to have plenty of quilting safety pins on hand to use. They are curved which make it easier to pin through all of the your quilt layers.
