52 IT’S A MUSIK FEST! The Early Learning Coalition (ELC) of Manatee County, Inc. has been awarded a $3,000 grant from the Florida Winefest & Auction, Inc. The grant is for implementing the internationally-recognized "Kindermusik" program for infants through prekindergarten children. The program will address the community’s need for children to be ready for school upon entering kindergarten. The Winefest funding will allow the ELC to provide Kindermusik to approximately 30 children from infants to four-year-olds. Kindermusik offers movement, songs, and music as a natural way for children to acquire language. The Kindermusik curriculum is an engaging way to teach children about music and to promote school readiness, reach individual learning styles, and nurture each child’s development. Rhymes and lyrics build children’s speaking ability, print awareness and listening skills, while movement develops balance, coordination, and brain stimulation. The Florida Winefest and Auction, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-pro��t organization that provides funding to quali��ed charitable organizations for programs assisting disadvantaged children, youth, and families in Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
