IT IS SAID THAT A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS! OFFROAD NATION MAGAZINE INTRODUCES THOSE THAT CAPTURE THE MOMENT AT OFFROAD EVENTS! ERIC AMATO ERIC AMATO PHOTOGRAPHY WWW.ERICAMATOPHOTOGRAPHY.COM My story starts in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts where I grew up as a kid who dreamt of exploring the outdoors and driving anything with a motor. Even a Power Wheels would have meant the world to me but it never came… it’s a grudge that I still hold against my parents to this day and most likely what set me on the ������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������ oriented family and my continued fantasizing about such things made me at times feel like the black sheep. However, after 16 long ���������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� truck which, unbeknownst to myself or anybody else, would set the course for the next decade and a half. �������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� over. As a starving college student, I couldn’t afford the heavy duty winch bumpers and rock sliders that I lusted over so I learned to weld and build my own parts which became the foundation of my future career as a mechanical engineer. My interest in offroading eventually transitioned from recreational rock crawling to endurance rock racing as King of the Hammers and Ultra4, the newest competitive driving discipline at the time, grew in popularity. In those following years, I did everything that I could just to get out on the race course in my old Toyota, competing just to reach the ���������������������������������������������������������������������� The friends that I made at the races and the things that I learned in the garage during that time period had an enormous impact on my life, even on my professional career in manufacturing. Looking back now, my early work as a fabricator was mostly junk but it was essential to giving me the experience that I continue to build on to this day. Everybody needs to start somewhere and much of the same can be said about my work as a photographer. When I was young, I had an interest in photography but I never actually acted on it. Much of my experience with photography ������������������ ���������������������� �������� ���������������� �������� �������������� ������������ ���������������� ������������ �������� shoot cameras. Following that, of course, was the invention of the cell phone camera which was a permanently blurry camera built �������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� decided that I wanted to learn more about photography so I ended with an entry level Canon Rebel DSLR camera.
