truck to come and get me like they had so many times before, listening to a lecture from an arrogant, impotent police chief who cost me thousands of hard earned dollars and basically used me as his own personal punching bag tell me how I was waisting my talent on these redneck trucks and I should build choppers like the guys on tv. Well I don’t know if this prick with a badge ever thought to think that not so long before choppers were so popular they were basically a trademark of the american outlaw. Before monster trucks were all glitz and glam they too were a sign of the rough and tough outlaw way. As ignorant as that cop was, he may have been right, maybe I have waisted all my time on a dead end, meaningless hobby. But I’ve always mine. If things like this magazine, and Trucks Gone Wild; and King Sling keep going then maybe one day I can laugh at that cop, because I’ll know that I had a small part in creating some huge sport that gets mainstream attention. (Then again, maybe I like it better the outlaw way). I’ve never been a person. I was a lost kid, who was mad at the world, and I’ve never really grown out of that. But that lost kid found something he loved and never let hard work or his own personal boundaries stop him from beating things with a hammer until they looked cool. I’ve got a purpose and I’ve got more then a life time worth of goals that I plan to achieve, and I ain’t scared to work for it. I didn’t get to where I am all by my own though, I looked up to so many people who built badass trucks or did things that I thought were cool. I can get down right depressed looking at my truck and thinking of all the money and time wasted, but every time somebody shows interest in what I’m doing it’s like throwing a supercharger on me. So for now I’ll keep welding the pieces back together and hitting things with my hammer, (maybe I shoulda stole a different kinda book collection from the library). I owe a thanks to my fans, my heroes, and offroad nation magazine for inspiring me to keep working at it. Until next time friends, FEATURE 62
