STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS G H With the decorative steps complete, we will now trim the base fabric along the tacking stitches. I J Completely cover the placement stitch with the border strip, making sure to overlap the placement stitch (into the center of the block) by 1⁄2” to allow for the ragged edge. K L The next step will be a basting stitch that will serve as a cutting guide for the ragged edge. Use a thread color that stands out against your fabric to help when you cut. These basting stitches will be removed later. Continue with decorative embroidery steps. Run the next step, which is a placement stitch for the first border fabric strip. Proceed with the tacking stitch for the border strip. 1⁄2” CATHEDRAL QUILT | Mix & Match Quilting | 169
