MEET HANNAH CREMIN 2017 Stage Management Intern Hannah Cremin, junior at Western Michigan University studying Stage Management, was surprised with how hands-on her internship was. After Assistant Stage Managing the main production of Sister Act, she was the Stage Manager for the teen production of the same show. Sitting in the booth calling the show every night was also a surprise for her. During a show, the Stage Manager calls every cue to the crew operating the light board, spotlights, soundboard, and flies based on the script. For this summer’s smash hit musical Sister Act, that included cues for a crew of 20. It’s a huge management responsibility that Hannah found daunting at first as one wrong cue call can affect the audience HANNAH CREMIN experience of the entire show. “At school, the shows I work on usually have at most 250 cues. This show had 640! The show was of a much bigger scale than any I’ve worked on before, and I learned so much.” With the support of TNP staff and her fellow interns, she made sure the shows went off without a hitch every night! In the midst of her success, she also built a strong sense of community with her middle- and high-school actors. Her enthusiasm for working with and mentoring kids was tangible, even on the phone: “For me, the highlight of this summer was opening night. The kids had such a great energy, and I was so proud!” she gushed, “These kids really touched me.” 64
