M E E T MARK VANAGAS Senior Designer for Pacifica Interior Design and TNP Volunteer Actor, Designer Photo by Derek Perry Mark Vanagas began performing as a child, whether singing for the family or in church, or dancing in a Lithuanian folk dance group. Mark fell in love with theater while in high school and for many years performed in musicals in various community theater companies in Connecticut. Mark’s career as a central executive with Filenes in Boston continued to grow and he set aside his passion for theater until permanently moving to Naples in 2002. Mark auditioned that year and has since performed in 24 productions from musicals, dramas and comedies, such as 42nd Street, Lion in Winter, Cabaret, Red, Sherlock Holmes, The Mystery of Irma Vep, The Producers, These Shining Lives and who could forget his role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in last season’s The Rocky Horror Show. Mark’s volunteer work can be seen on and off stage. He volunteers as a set decorator, a graphic artist for show posters and an audition assistant. He was the costume designer for Women of Lockerbie, House of Blue Leaves and The Goodbye Girl and recently She Kills Monsters. He has volunteered as hair and wig designer for several shows, and the milliner for many shows including She Loves Me, The Importance of Being Ernest, Thoroughly Modern Millie, My Fair Lady and 42nd Street. You won’t be surprised to learn that in April 2016 Mark Vanagas was given the Life Member Award, the highest recognition The Naples Players bestows upon a member.
