Elkhorn Corridor Trail System -
Several segments open, more
in progress; Western Trail is an
easy 1.5-mile trail, and Cardome
Trail offers 2 easy miles and
links to the ¾ Mile Peninsula
Trail. Portions of each trail are
handicapped-accessible.

Royal Spring Park in Downtown
Georgetown - Royal Spring is
considered the birthplace of
bourbon, as colorful Reverend
Elijah Craig is credited with
distilling the fi rst spirits in
Kentucky. Also located here was
the fi rst paper mill West of the
Appalachians (1793). A log cabin
built in 1874 was moved to the
Park and restored in 1978.
Veterans Wildlife Management
Area - off I-75 is 2,500 acres of
undeveloped land for public
hunting, fi shing and wildlife

habitat types for game species,
migratory birds, reptiles and
amphibians, including hardwood
forests, shrub lands, grasslands
