CLASSES OF COMPETITION AT SEBRING
PROTOTYPE
The premier category of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar
Championship represent the fastest and most technologically
advanced cars in North America.
The mix of DPi (Daytona Prototype International) and Le
Mans P2 cars featured in this class are specifically designed
and engineered for the race track. Prototypes can average
over 125 mph on Sebring’s legendary circuit, with top speeds
nearing 200 mph on the Ulmann Straight. Manufacturer DPi
entries include defending champion Cadillac, Acura, Mazda
and Nissan. Chassis manufacturers such as ORECA, Dallara,
Ligier and Riley produce LM P2 spec cars. Defending Sebring
champion: Cadillac (Wayne Taylor Racing).
GTLM
The GT Le Mans category features the world’s most technologically
advanced GT cars, utilizing the same technical regulations
as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In the IMSA WeatherTech
SportsCar Championship, manufacturer factory teams from
Corvette, Ford, BMW, Porsche and Ferrari all compete with
world class driver lineups. Defending Sebring GTLM champion:
Corvette Racing.
GTD
The GT Daytona category cars are enhanced by technology
and utilize the global FIA GT3 technical specifications. Leading
manufacturers represented in GTD by privately operated
teams include Acura, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lexus, Lamborghini,
Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.
