20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Boca Grande Art Center President Lona
Kissinger said planning and organizing for the
shows can take up to a year in advance.
“We have committees for every show we
put together, and we assign a team to each
one to ensure the goals of the shows are met,”
Kissinger said. “There are three annual exhibit
shows, and then we have some private ones
as well, and those can vary each year.”
The Boca Grande Art Center was founded
in 1986. It was originally called Boca Grande
Art Alliance by a small group of talented artists
living in Boca Grande, who were in search of
a venue to show their art to residents and visitors.
The Johann Fust Community Library
hosted several early exhibitions. The organization
has grown as a 501(c)3 non-profit operation
with a very supportive and active
membership.
Carol Hall is on the board of the BGAC and
she has been an exhibiting artist since 2015.

“We encourage everyone on the island to
become a member of the art center – you get
great deals and we offer some terrific classes,”
Carol said. “And it’s inexpensive, memberships
start at $50.”
Membership supports the community by
providing art scholarships to local students.
Over the years, the BGAC board members have
added art exhibits, workshops, classes, educational
lectures and special events. These all celebrate the
local culture and promote the visual arts for the
public and contribute to the cultural life of our
community.
Although we’ve talked about the local Boca
Grande Art Shows coming up, there’s more!
