Ancillary Services
Pharmacy
The Pharmacists at Evans Memorial Hospital
work closely with your Physician, Nurse, and
other healthcare professionals to ensure that
the medications you receive are selected and
administered in the safest and most effective
manner.
For your protection, please do not bring or
take medications from home while you are in the
hospital unless requested to do so. If you bring in
medication from home for verification of dosages,
please ask a family member to take it back home
while you are in the hospital, unless your doctor
has given specific orders for you to take your own
medicine. If your physician writes orders for you to
use your own medications, they should be given to
your nurse so a pharmacist can identify them.
Laboratory
Most patients admitted to the hospital or receiving
outpatient services require laboratory testing.
The information from these tests completed in
our laboratory is an important tool in helping
the doctor in decisions about the diagnosis and
treatment for providing the best patient care
possible. Evans Memorial Hospital Laboratory is a
State of Georgia licensed and accredited laboratory
with a board-certified pathologist to meet the
needs of our patients and our doctors.
Our laboratory is staffed with dedicated,
skilled professionals providing the utmost care
and services for both inpatients and outpatients
twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. We are
able to perform many tests on site; however, we
are also a collection site for reference laboratories
such as LabCorp and Quest.
With a doctor’s order, our well-trained
phlebotomists will provide proficient blood
collection and accommodate any other laboratory
specimen collection required. After specimen
collection, our highly educated registered medical
technologists are competent to perform all patient
testing with accuracy and precision.
The laboratory offers services in the areas of:
• Chemistry – Provides testing for common
chemistry and cardiac panels, glucose tolerance
testing, therapeutic drug testing, and many more.
• Hematology – Provides testing for CBC,
hemoglobin, hematocrit, and other tests to
diagnose and monitor infection, inflammation,
sickle cell anemia, leukemia, and other related
illnesses.
• Urinalysis – Provides testing for diagnosing
urinary tract infections, monitoring diabetes, and
other kidney function testing.
