We are Key West’s locally-owned, independent bookstore
44
— a community center for readers and writers,
a place where you can browse the latest books, attend
readings by well-known writers, meet local authors,
and just inhale the intoxicating aroma of paper and
bindings. We’re a non-profit, part of The Studios of Key
West, but we aren’t asking you for donations. We’re just
asking you to come and treat yourself to a book. That’s
all it will take to keep us alive and thriving.
We bring authors together with readers at in-store
events. We have hosted notable writers ranging from
Francine Klagsbrun, Carl Hiaasen and Victor LaValle,
to landscape architect Raymond Jungles.

than we have in our store. Shipping is free!
Do you like to listen? Try our system at www.libro.fm.
With all the books from all the publishers, Libro offers
the bells and whistles you need to listen to books on
your computer on in your car. Sign up for a monthly
subscription of $14.95 and get your first book free. After
that your membership gets you one book per month,
any book and the credits don’t expire.
Give it a shot at www.libro.fm/kwbooks.
Our inventory — a choice of titles from
“ABC Animals” to “Zoom” — has
been carefully curated for the broad
range of interests in our unique town.
Nothing makes us so proud as to respond
to the query “Do you have...,”
more often than not with an enthusiastic
“Yes!”
We know that every month or two
someone will want a classic like Moby
Dick, and we’ll have it. But our tables
are piled high with new books, too. If
the book is in stock at the store (watch
for the “On our shelves now” tag)
we’ll fill the order from stock. Otherwise
we’ll get it shipped from our
warehouse.
