Meet new program notes writer Kurt Loft
This season The Florida Orchestra introduces Kurt Loft as our new program
notes writer for the Tampa Bay Times Masterworks series. He is a veteran
journalist and arts writer who covered classical music for The Tampa Tribune
and other publications for nearly 30 years. He began reviewing TFO in 1981,
when it was known as the Florida Gulf Coast Symphony, and in 2017 came
full circle by contributing blogs to the orchestra’s website. A senior writer
for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Loft lives in St. Petersburg with his wife, Cindy.
Loft and other writers will continue to tell the story of The Florida Orchestra
on the blog, FloridaOrchestra.com/blog.

TFO adds second teaching artist for Pinellas schools
In less than two years, our Teaching Artist
partnership with Pinellas County schools has
become so successful that we’ve hired a second
musician. Violist Kaitlin Springer joins violinist
Kristin Baird to work with orchestra programs in
Pinellas public schools.
Assistant Conductor Daniel Black joins TFO
Good news: We are adding to our stellar conducting
team. The Florida Orchestra has named Daniel
Black as assistant conductor, a guiding force for our
growing lineup of community concerts.
