A roomful of military heroes was the scene November 3,
for the 6th annual induction ceremony for the Georgia
Military Veterans Hall of Fame (GMVHOF) at St. Luke’s
Ministry in Columbus, Georgia.
In addition to the 17 veterans inducted into the class of 2018,
together with their representatives and guests, there were several
than 400, according to the organization’s Director and Founder
Col. Paul Longgrear (USA Ret) of Pine Mountain, Georgia.
Co-Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors Col. Rick
White (USA Ret) of Johns Creek, Georgia presided over the
solemn presentation, announcing the citations in the categories
of valor in combat, exemplary achievements while in service, or
duty. Each inductee was decorated with a medal to signify this
prestigious honor.
Assisting in the ceremony and banquet were JROTC cadets
from the Lighthouse Brigade in Columbus, led by retired U. S.
Army Lt. Col. Roger Barros. A brass quintet from the U.S. Army
Band in nearby Fort Benning further complemented the military
theme of the ceremony.
Framed photos of the honorees will be placed on the Heroes
Wall of the Floyd Building in the State Capitol complex during an
unveiling ceremony to be announced at a later date.
