Listed on the National Register of
Historic Places, this magnificent 1880
Romanesque, old world-style church
was built by the early parishioners and
showcases priceless German stained-glass
windows, Austrian-designed and imported
mosaics with 50 million stones, pewter and
marble statues, altars made of Italian
marble, and a communion railing of onyx
and brass. The tower, whose design
was taken from that of the tower
that houses Big Ben in London,
stands at 235 feet tall. Today,
the church has nearly
5,000 parishioners.

Built in 1878 as the Ireland Methodist Church, this
structure is the oldest building in Ireland,
a charming town just a few miles
west of Jasper. The building has
since been refurbished and now
serves as a meeting house for
civic events and organizations.
The main floor features the
Ireland Historical Chapel, which
may be used for weddings as
requested, while the basement
highlights the “Walls of History,”
a 1,000 picture and fact collection
covering the interior.
Shiloh Meeting House

Erected in 1849 and listed on the National Register of Historic
Places, this building is known as one of the finest pioneer churches
in southern Indiana and features its original pews and floors.
A 2-door front door and a divider on some of the pews once
served to separate the men from the women. Shiloh also has the
distinction of having one of the very few pet cemeteries in the
state separated from the main cemetery by Shiloh Road.
