Did you know that January was named
after the Latin word for “door?” January is the
“door” to the start of new beginnings. Janus,
the Roman God of beginnings, gates, time, and
doorways is often depicted with two faces; one
looking backward and one looking to the future.
Mother Theresa said, “There is no key to
happiness, the door is always open.” Our doors here at SFSC
Performing Arts are open to everyone to experience the thrill of
world class entertainment.
We encourage parents or grandparents to bring young
people to our family friendly performances like Forever Young
or Wild World of Animals. With generously discounted tickets
for children and students, it’s as affordable as the price of a
movie to see a national touring act.
From pop music productions like The Doo Wop Project or
Derrick and The Motowners to magnificent classical music
with The Florida Orchestra, South Florida State College strives
to present a diverse program of high-quality performances.
Are you a country music lover? Join us for country music star
Sara Evans or a matinee performance of Nashville Legacy.
Do you prefer Broadway? This year we have two huge tours:
“The Sound of Music” and “Legally Blonde.” For traditional
jazz fans, we present the best jazz series south of Chicago with
Hotlanta Dixieland Jazz Band kicking it off on Friday, January
11 at 7:00 p.m. in the intimate 250-seat University Center.
We are so glad that you chose to walk through the doors of
the Alan Jay Wildstein Center for the Performing Arts. May this
year give you the opportunity to follow your dreams, love like
there is no tomorrow and smile unconditionally.
Happy New Year!
