Dr. Scott’s love of medicine started back in
high school. “I was volunteering at a local hospital
building up my community service hours
for a college scholarship when I discovered
what I wanted to do with the rest of my life,’’
-
found effect doctors can have on the health
and well-being of their patients. It was awe-inspiring
and I knew then I wanted to be a part
of that profession.’’
His love of surgery came during his four years
of undergraduate studying at the University of
Florida while being a volunteer at UF Health
Shands Hospital.
“I was able to see the inner workings of the
operating room and the truly amazing things
that happen there and I was hooked. I like that
general surgery provides a wide scope of procedures
to allow me to help a greater variety
of patients,’’ Dr. Scott said. “I really enjoy how
surgery provides such an immediate correction
to our patient’s problems. Our patients
come in with really painful, debilitating and often
life-threatening issues. Surgeons are able
to diagnose the issue, formulate a plan and
the patients are better before they even wake
up from anesthesia. It is really rewarding and
enjoyable for me to provide those services.”
Dr. Scott has a bachelor’s of health science
degree from the University of Florida and his
medical degree from the University of Miami,
Miller School of Medicine. He did his internship
and residency at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation
in New Orleans, LA. He and his wife,
Shawn Price-Vogel, who is from Lake Wales,
are happy to be back in Central Florida. “We
love it here. We knew this was where we wanted
to come back to,’’ he said.
In addition to the vein procedures, a general
surgeon, Dr. Scott performs as variety of procedures.
The surgical procedures range from:
• Appendectomy
• Cholecystectomy
