The POWER OF
LISTENING
The lifestyle of Jesus is most notably known by his bold teachings, powerful displays of healing,
and His given authority to forgive sin. This is the Jesus we know, yet we rarely remember the side
of Jesus that was an intentional listener. Jesus’s communication was stylized in asking questions.

tion between Jesus and Peter in Matthew 16
.
“Who do you say that I am,” Jesus asked his disciples during their journey to Philippi. This is a
question that we know Jesus already had the answer to, yet he asks. A prophetic utterance bursts
from Peter, an answer that no man could have told him. Peter states, “You are the Christ, The Son
of the living God.”
