Dear String Teachers,
Selecting new music is always exciting for string teachers, but itʼs also challenging! Your
goals may include teaching expressive playing, developing technique including tone, rhythm,
shifting, as well as motivating students with inspirational music. Our catalog provides
instructive and engaging arrangements perfect for beginning to advanced ensembles. There
is a handy chart on pages 4–5 allowing you to search by grade level and genre, perfect for
at-a-glance browsing. There are various links included throughout the booklet for playlists
and dedicated web pages making it fast and easy to access exclusive online resources.
Directors will enjoy seeing the score while listening to the recording using our Score &
Sound videos. It is a time-saving and simple-to-use resource. The score pages even turn
automatically—watch and subscribe now at alfred.com/stringscore.
The new SI Online provides a wide variety of resources that allow you to differentiate
instruction in your orchestras. Free resources for all Sound Innovations books are now
available online such as audio, video MasterClasses, additional repertoire for reinforcement
or personalization, history and theory worksheets, and much more. Find out more on page 22.
On a personal note it is with great excitement that I introduce our new Director of String
Publications, Chris Bernotas. Chris has been a devoted music teacher for 28 years and is a
very well respected composer/author of band and orchestra music. Chris will be assisted
by nationally known string educator Jim Palmer. They will both carry on the great traditions
exemplified in the Belwin and Highland/Etling catalogs. I will continue to offer clinics and
write for Alfred Music. As I pass the baton, I wish you all the best!
I hope you enjoy this wonderful new release.
