Kevin Henry Young, the third born of six
children, was born on June 9, 1970. He was
a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin
and friend. As a lifelong Memphian,
Kevin attended Macon Elementary,
Springdale-Memphis Magnet Elementary,
Snowden Jr. High, and The Central High
School. He attended Union University,
Jackson, TN, where he majored in
Business Administration.
His parents, Pastor Ben & Linnie Thomas
Young, maternal grandparents, Odell and
Izora Thomas, paternal grandparents, Joe
Young and Sadie Young Harris and beloved
nephew –son, Jeremy Linn Taylor, all
preceded him in death.
Kevin accepted Jesus Christ as his personal
Lord and Savior at an early age at Lamar
Terrace Baptist Church under the leadership
of his late father, Pastor Ben Young. Kevin
rededicated his life to Christ, July 2010, at
Ardmore Terrace Baptist Church under the
leadership of his older brother, Pastor
Steven B. Young.
On Sunday, March 10, 2019, God
called Kevin home to his eternal rest.
Kevin obeyed the will of God and bid
his earthly home farewell. Though he’s
absent from the body, he is present
with the Lord!
Kevin was a lover of life! He lived
life with purpose and passion. He was
intentional about befriending people
from all walks of life, giving to those
who were in need and being the bossy
big brother to everyone. Anyone who
knew Kevin knows that he had a
profound love for his family rooted
in our father’s death-bed charge to him,
“Take care of my girls!” And Kevin did
just that. He not only took care of his
sisters, but his entire family. He was
known for his compassionate nature,
silly sense of humor, unwavering
strength, beautiful smile, charming
personality, quick wit and sense
of style.
