The Beech Fork River hugs the county line between Washington
and Nelson Counties.
Paddlers can launch their kayaks
and floats at any of the bridges
listed: Mt. Zion, Fredricktown
Bridge, Maud Bridge, Manton
Bridge. Wildlife is abundant
along this waterway. Sightings
of beavers, blue herons, white
tail deer, otters, and bald eagles
are frequently reported. Several
pair of nesting bald eagles have
made Fredrickburg (The Burg)
their permanent home so keep an eye on the sky and it’s
likely you’ll get a close up view of our nation’s beloved symbol!
Mt. Zion Bridge is Kentucky’s longest, oldest, and most
western covered bridge. It serves as a great drop off on the
Beech Fork as well as a photo opportunity.
