Legislative Update
While, at press time, the political stalemate
continues in Raleigh, we are gearing up for a busy
interim. Executive Director Richard Rogers and
his governmental affairs team are taking to the
highways for the association’s “Retiree Road Trip.”
We’ll visit legislators, locally-elected and local
journalists to share our story and goals for the next
years to come.
One effort we plan to champion is meaningful,
relevant reforms to keep retiree pensions from
losing additional value and allow for cost of liv-

Board Increases Member Dues
Your Association’s Board of Directors have
taken action to increase revenue to ensure to our
growth and continue the ability of the NCRGEA to
members need and deserve. After much consideration,
strategic planning and review, the Board
voted to increase the schedule of annual membership
fees beginning November 1, 2019.
Our current three-tier membership fee schedule
was implemented in 1996 taking into consideration
that retiree pensions vary greatly. Over the
past twenty-three years, the Association has been
member services without increasing our membership
dues but one time (in 2012). The Board of
Directors recognized at the time that the Associa-
seven years without increasing general membership
dues.
The Executive Committee recommended the
new dues schedule presented below. While there
never is a perfect time to increase membership
fees, your Association’s Board delayed the dues
increase for as long as possible. The Board gave
unanimous approval to the recommendation
and set the effective date of the new schedule for
renewals beginning November 1, 2019. The new
dues amounts will apply as memberships are renewed
over the next year.
