Palmetto Farms Stone ground grits are a part of who we are.
David Dorman and his sons, Andrew and Devin are carrying on
a family business started by David’s grandfather. In the early
1930s, quality stone ground grits and corn meal were available
on the farm to friends, family and local folks. It wasn’t long before
the word spread and people began to come from far away
to buy their favorites corn products. Today, at Palmetto Farms,
they still use the same traditional milling equipment and
products available. “Quality is important to us. We only use
but we enjoy creating these classic southern foods. They are
natural, healthy and delicious. People love them. We are proud
to keep this traditional alive.”
Benjamin Bakery & Cafe “Family owned and operated since
1994. Benjamin’s Bakery has been supplying fresh, bakedfrom
scratch bagels, bread, and sweets to cafés and locations
across the Grand Strand daily. Owners Lee and Wendy Zulanch
started Benjamin’s Bakery with Lee’s father when the family
wanted fresh bagels for breakfast one day and realized bagel
shops were few and far between in the 90’s. Named after their
oldest son, the small deli/bagel shop (Benjamin’s Bagels),
evolved into Benjamin’s Bakery and Café with a large wholesale
bakery and retail café. The bakery is the most experienced
on the Grand Strand and prides itself on personalized service
and top quality baked goods that make a lasting impression.”
Big Sam’s Dressing When “Big Sam” Diminich came to this
country in 1927 from his home in the region around Trieste
in Northern Italy, one of the few things he brought with him
was his family’s salad dressing recipe. He and his wife Sarah
opened the Roma Restaurant in Myrtle Beach, S.C. in 1951
when there were only four restaurants in the town. The Roma
was known for its great food (The New York Times said it
had “excellent Italian food” and Mick Jagger proclaimed the
fettucine “mahvelous” when he and Jerry Hall dined there in
the house salad being one of its signature items. Big Sam’s son
bottled the dressing and made it available to the public three
like it in the grocery store. It is “Weight Watchers” acceptable
with zero points. The word “addicted” has been used.
