Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park
is a 691-acre state park located in the
hamlet of Great River, New York, on
Long Island. The park includes an
arboretum designed by Frederick Law
Olmsted for William Bayard Cutting in
1886, as well as a mansion designed by

Both the house and property were given
to the people of Long Island “to provide
an oasis of beauty and quiet for the

SHIPWRECK COVE SPRAY PARK
This water park has a
general pirate theme
with sails, canons, and a
crow’s nest and is a great
place to bring the kids.
The little ones can sit
and crawl in the pool as
it is not deep enough to
swim.
This fun little water park
features big and small
slides, sprinklers, and
unexpected bucket dumps of water. There
are staircases and rope bridge as well as jets
to circulate the water in the pool.

Connetquot River State Park Preserve
maintains the lands and waters of the
park for the protection and propagation
����������������������������������������������������������������������������������
waterfowl are numerous, rare nesting
birds, including the osprey, are present
and there are numerous rare plants, such
as trailing arbutus and pyxie moss in their
natural habitats. The preserve also has 50
miles of hiking, horseback riding, crosscountry
ski and nature trails, as well as

From western Long Island: Southern State
Parkway east to exit 44 (Sunrise Highway),
east to the Preserve. From eastern Long
Island: Sunrise Highway west to Oakdale.
The Preserve is located on the north side
of Sunrise Highway, just west of Pond
Road.
