1965 PONTIAC GTO CONVERTIBLE
Coming to The Raleigh Classic Auction from a prominent West Coast collection, this 1965 GTO is a great example of Pontiac’s early muscle. It embodies the right
characteristics for an enjoyable investment car: limited production, excellent workmanship during restoration and a strong potential to appreciate in value. Of the
75,352 GTOs built in 1965, only 11,311 (15%) were
convertibles and far fewer of those were ordered
like this with the desirable four-speed and Tri-
Power intake. Top up or down, this is one sharp
looking GTO, with all the little things like glass, trim,
emblems, special order Tiger Gold paint. The panel
gaps are fantastic and the paintwork matches the
overall high level of detail. The fresh interior and
power top can only be described as first rate. The
new owner will enjoy power steering, power brakes
and one of the nicest passenger compartments
we’ve seen. All of the chrome has been highly
detailed and the Rally wheels and tires are excellent.
It is clean and correct under the hood. Sounds as
good as it looks and is an absolute blast to drive. The
’65 GTO remains a landmark car that combines fun,
performance and great collectability. It will always
represent the genesis of the muscle car era. Today
you can buy one of the best, knowing that a great
GTO is always a solid investment.
